This is a superb and rare George II silver egg form nutmeg grater dating to Circa 1745 made by the renowned silversmith David Field who specialised in making nutmeg graters. It is marked with his makers mark inside both halves of the egg. The condition is outstanding with no damage or repairs and it has a lovely patina, as can be seen from the photos which form part of the description. (There are some reflections of the sky and house in the photos unfortunately).
You may find other Georgian egg shaped nutmeg graters for sale but usually are not in this superb condition. I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed with this in your collection.The steel grater is also in excellent condition as are the threads on both halves of the egg.
