ANTIQUE ELKINGTON GOLD PLATED CANDELABRAS 19thC. RARE! Hard to find
Here for your consideration are the most exceptional and exquisite pair of ornate candelabras. Electroplated in Real Gold made by Elkington for the D epartment of Science & Art. Made in the 19th C (aprox 1850s) in Birmingham England. These are absolutely fabulous marked on the bottom Elkington Department of Science and Art VR. The VR stands for Victoria Regina aka Queen Victoria. Elkington made reproductions of famous works of art , Sometimes borrowing items from museums and making the reproduction , then returning the precious original to the museum. These candelabras have 7 cups each so ornate Rams heads on each base of arm just un believably gorgeous. Adorned with the Acanthus and celtic looking design , the cups have 4 leaf clovers on them. And on and on and on , GOOD LUCK EVER FINDING them again, except possibly in a museum , I was told the original were indeed Queen Victoria's and most likely the originals had Jewels on them. These are for the serious collector or designer. Each cup has an insert that comes out, and the tops of the" tree" come completely out of the base. They are large 22" at tallest point x APROX 13" across at farthest span of arms and the base is 8.5. They are Heavy weighing close to 13lbs each. I cannot say enough about these rare pieces. You would only see something like this in the MOST elegant and wealthiest of homes. Interior designers check these out, your clients will be "WOWED" and very impressed. I will consider all reasonable offers depending on how far they need to travel. These will be professionally packed at my expense for secure and safe arrival.
