It was taken over by Landgrave Ludwig VIII von Hessen Darmstadt in 1761. Porcelain was made here that same year but only until 1768. Production of porcelain was resumed in 1789 until about 1802.
The figure is of a putto wearing a hat holding some flowers in the hand above his head with a basket filled with flowers on a fancy base next to him. Interesting early base with puce trim and green to the top. The figurine is not marked underneath which is typical for the early period. It is 4.875 inches tall, 2.375 inches wide and 2.25 deep. The figure displays perfectly but has had work done to it. How much is impossible to tell as it was done to the highest caliber! The upper entire arm and flowers have a non porcelain feel to it created by restoration as does the other arm, part of the basket, upper body, hat and head.
That does not mean it was all restored but it was covered by a coating to make it all look perfect. The rarity and the fact that it displays perfectly make up for this short coming in my book!
